Jubilee Academy’s Philosophy of Education
Our motto is “Affordable, Individualized, Christian Education.” Those components are important. Each component is part of what makes us who we are.
Our vision has always been to make Christian education affordable to as many families as possible. We believe that God has called us to provide the best education we can at the lowest cost we can. Our staff views Jubilee Academy as a ministry. Many have taken 50 percent or greater pay cuts in order to provide an excellent Christian education to our students.
Even more importantly, our goal is to treat each student as an individual. Though much of our teaching is whole class or small group, we consider each child’s learning style, strengths, and weaknesses, and we accommodate as needed. Our class sizes are comparatively small, with a 12-student cap in Grades K-5, and a 16-student cap in grades 6-12. Every child has strengths, and we want to refine and encourage those strengths. Every child also has weaknesses, and we guide them to acknowledge those weaknesses, to make progress in those areas where feasible, to advocate for themselves in appropriate ways, and to take advantage of accommodations when needed. Our teachers and administration view all students as being made in the image of God, regardless of abilities or disabilities.
Most importantly, we are a Christian school. We are not affiliated with any particular denomination, and we do not require our families to be Christian. Our instructional staff, however, are required to sign a Statement of Faith and to regularly attend a Bible-believing church. As a Christian school, we desire to impart a strong Christian worldview to our students. We want them to graduate from Jubilee Academy knowing not just what they believe, but why they believe it. Our culture has fallen into post-modernism and secularism. We are mandated by God to educate the next generation to know, understand, apply, and love His Word, the Bible, and to be able to give a reason for the hope that we have. We do not consider the Bible to be a subject we teach. We do take time for Bible teaching each day. However, we don’t leave our Bible teaching when we move forward into the rest of the school day. We align our entire curriculum to Biblical principles, and we consistently train our students to live in a Godly way.
Education is not just reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. Education includes social skills, character training, life skills, fine motor and gross motor skills, and so much more. Education incorporates the whole person. At Jubilee Academy, we address the spiritual, the academic, the emotional, the physical, and the social needs of our students, and we do it all for the glory of God!
